What is Emotionally Focused Therapy?
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a structured, structured approach to couples and individual therapy formulated in the early 1980s by Dr Susan Johnson. EFT is grounded in research and focuses on adult attachment and bonding. EFT is considered a gold standard for couples therapy. It's an experiential approach to therapy, which helps client access and deepen emotions. It aims to expand and reorganize key emotional responses and encourages the expression of needs and emotions. Through EFT, individuals and couples can build stronger, more secure emotional connections, fostering healthier relationships.
Key Benefits of EFT:
- Helps to understand and transform negative patterns in relationships.
- Promotes emotional bonding and secure attachment.
- Facilitates better communication and empathy.
- Effective for resolving conflicts and deepening intimacy.
