My path to becoming a psychologist was not a direct one. Immediately after college, I worked as a business community organizer in the United States Peace Corps in the West Indies. Then, I returned home and joined the United States Naval Reserves. After the military, I worked in corporate America as a loan manager. Finally, just before graduate school, I worked as a firefighter for several years. I also actively participated in raising our two children with my wife during this time. These varied experiences have helped shape my understanding of people’s desire to make their lives work.

An EFT Externship is an intensive training program designed for mental health professionals to learn the foundations of Emotionally Focused Therapy. It includes lectures, live demonstrations, and supervised practice sessions.
The externship is open to mental health professionals, including psychologists, therapists, social workers, psychiatrists, counsellors, and graduate students in these fields
Participants will learn the theoretical underpinnings of EFT, how to identify and work with attachment patterns in couples, the steps and stages of EFT, and practical skills for conducting EFT sessions.
The Externship typically spans four days and includes a mix of didactic instruction, live and video demonstrations, and experiential learning through role-plays and small group exercises.
While there are no formal prerequisites, it is beneficial for participants to have some experience or interest in couple therapy or related fields.
