Dr. Paul T. Guillory is a psychologist, trainer, and educator with over 30 years of experience specializing in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the integration of Attachment Theory, Multicultural Realities & its impacts in psychotherapy. He is the author of Emotionally Focused Therapy with African American Couples: Love Heals (Routledge, 2021) and an Associate Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, where he teaches and conducts research on EFT.
As a certified EFT trainer, supervisor, and therapist, Dr. Guillory leads workshops and trainings worldwide, with a focus on equipping clinicians to serve diverse communities. He is known for his transformative workshops, including "Deep Roots: Attachment & Culture" and "Beyond Cultural Humility.”
Dr. Guillory has served as a consultant for the Oakland Raiders, Sacramento Kings, and the National Basketball Players Association. He is also the former chairperson of the Northern California Community of Emotionally Focused Therapy, where he advanced initiatives to increase cultural diversity.

An EFT Externship is an intensive training program designed for mental health professionals to learn the foundations of Emotionally Focused Therapy. It includes lectures, live demonstrations, and supervised practice sessions.
The externship is open to mental health professionals, including psychologists, therapists, social workers, psychiatrists, counsellors, and graduate students in these fields
Participants will learn the theoretical underpinnings of EFT, how to identify and work with attachment patterns in couples, the steps and stages of EFT, and practical skills for conducting EFT sessions.
The Externship typically spans four days and includes a mix of didactic instruction, live and video demonstrations, and experiential learning through role-plays and small group exercises.
While there are no formal prerequisites, it is beneficial for participants to have some experience or interest in couple therapy or related fields.
